Description of MBA Program:

The Rady School MBA is a program focused on innovation with deep resources in science, technology and other transformative industries. We have partnerships with other graduate programs at UC San Diego such as the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the Graduate School of International Relations & Pacific Studies, the Jacobs School of Engineering and our own Beyster Institute. UC San Diego has also established a Sustainability Solutions Institute and a Rady School professor is on its leadership team.

How does the MBA program 'walk the talk' of social and environmental impact?:

The Rady School of Management and UC San Diego are committed to sustainability and social responsibility.

The Rady School's on-campus building, Otterson Hall, was designed with environmental sustainability in mind, using natural ventilation and energy efficient lighting and a rooftop solar power system. Rady MBA students in UC San Diego’s Net Impact chapter proposed and directed the Otterson solar project. The student-driven project made the Rady School one of the first business schools in the country to use solar panels on their main campus building. The office chairs in Otterson Hall are also made of recycled content, locally sourced and low-emitting materials and they are 98 percent recyclable.

The flagship event for Net Impact each year is the CACI (California Clean Innovation) event which is  organized jointly by Rady MBAs along with students from UCLA and Caltech, in coordination with the UC San Diego School of International Relations and Pacific Studies. It is a one-day conference for professionals and graduate students to explore innovative applications of clean technology. CACI facilitates understanding of clean technology by bringing together leaders in business, policy and technology and is held at the Rady School on alternating years.

Rady MBAs, as part of Net Impact also worked with UC San Diego staff  to implement a campus “Sustainability Walk.” The walk highlights campus green features viewable via a self-guided, walking tour. Otterson Hall is one of the campus sites on the tour.
