Geopolitics for International Careers (2011)

Elective

Topic Areas

International Management

International careers are becoming increasingly common for MBA graduates. This is the case not only for those who will join multinational companies but also for those interested in pursuing careers at multinational institutions (UN agencies, World Bank etc).

Good knowledge of certain critical geopolitical matters is an indispensable requirement in pursuing international careers. For instance, the way in which Islam influences business - the emergence of Islamic financial instruments, the market for the "halal" food industry etc are issues that can no longer be ignored by any competent international manager.

The course focuses on five specific regions of the world that are increasingly strategic in terms of business opportunities:

- Middle East and the Gulf

- Japan and the Asian "tigers"

- Sub-saharan Africa

- Russia and CIS

- Latin America
